A Commitment to Giving Back
For Chad Stonebrook, a partner at Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook, volunteering with CHN has become much more than an individual commitment. Over the years, he has brought together colleagues, family members, and young people in his community to support CHN's mission.
As CHN’s legal counsel, Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook has long played an important role in supporting our mission. In 2021, the firm began deepening its relationship with CHN through volunteerism, extending its commitment beyond legal services to hands-on community engagement. From serving holiday meals to assembling essential supplies for residents moving into their new homes, the firm’s team has generously contributed its time, resources, and enthusiasm to making a meaningful difference in the lives of CHN residents. Chad has taken that commitment one step further by involving his own family in volunteer activities, demonstrating that his dedication to CHN’s mission extends beyond his professional life and inspiring the next generation to embrace the spirit of giving back.
Chad says, "Housing is the cornerstone of any life in this country. If you don't have stable housing, it's really hard to do much else.”
Inspiring the Next Generation of Volunteers
One particularly meaningful project brought together Chad's family, colleagues, and his daughter's Girl Scout troop to assemble kits for CHN residents.
The effort was truly a team undertaking. Chad's wife helped develop the idea and gather recipes, colleagues assisted with shopping and supplies, Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook provided financial support, and the Girl Scouts planned and assembled the kits over several meetings.
Two of Chad's children even helped deliver the finished kits.
For Chad, the experience demonstrated how people of all ages can contribute to their community while creating opportunities to teach younger generations the importance of compassion and service.
"Children will do what you do and not what you say," Chad explained.
By involving young people in volunteer opportunities, Chad hopes to encourage greater understanding of homelessness and the challenges that can affect someone's housing stability, while empowering them to take action when they see a need in their community.
Creating Connections That Matter
Beyond the tangible impact of volunteer projects, Chad recognizes the importance of human connection in helping residents feel welcomed and supported.
During CHN's Thanksgiving activities, he observed that the conversations and interactions between volunteers and residents were just as meaningful as the meal itself.
Chad says, "It's one thing to be housed, but feeling connected to others in your community is really important.”
That belief continues to guide his involvement with CHN and reflects the spirit of volunteerism that he and his colleagues bring to every opportunity.
Celebrating an Outstanding Volunteer
CHN's Impact Award recognizes individuals whose generosity, dedication, and service help advance our mission and strengthen the communities we serve.
Chad exemplifies that commitment not only through his own volunteer efforts, but also through his ability to inspire others to get involved. His leadership has helped foster a culture of giving back at Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook while introducing a new generation to the importance of community service.
To Chad Stonebrook, his family, and the entire Lardiere McNair & Stonebrook team, thank you for your generosity, compassion, and dedication to CHN residents.
We are proud to celebrate Chad as our 2026 Volunteer of the Year and are grateful for the many ways he and his colleagues continue to make a difference in our community.
