A Partnership Built on Shared Values
Since its founding in 1985, Rockford Construction has made giving back an important part of its company culture. From employee volunteerism to charitable giving, the company has consistently supported organizations making a difference in the communities it serves.
Rockford's partnership with Community Housing Network dates back to 2007, reflecting nearly two decades of shared commitment to strengthening communities and expanding access to stable housing. Throughout this longstanding relationship, Rockford has been a generous donor and dedicated supporter of CHN's mission, helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.
For Robert “Bob” Yoakum, President and CEO of Rockford Homes, Rockford's relationship with CHN is a natural extension of the company's work. While Rockford builds homes and communities, CHN helps ensure that individuals facing barriers to housing have access to safe, affordable homes and the supportive services they need to thrive.
"Programs like CHN are few and far between," Bob shared.
Two aspects of CHN's mission particularly resonate with Rockford: housing affordability and second chances. As housing costs continue to rise, Rockford recognizes the importance of creating opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve stability.
"Everybody falls down once in a while," Bob said. "It's important to help pick them up and work through it."
Making a Difference Beyond Construction
For Rockford, the impact of its partnership with CHN goes beyond the buildings it helps create.
Bob recalled a meaningful conversation with a CHN resident named Donald, whose experience helped illustrate the difference that having a stable home can make in someone's life.
"Not just a project we built, we built someone a home.”
In 2026, Rockford further strengthened its commitment through a $50,000 Matching Gift Campaign benefiting CHN. Through this initiative, Rockford matches one-time donations dollar for dollar and matches the first three months of new monthly gifts, helping supporters make an even greater impact.
Beyond financial contributions, Rockford hopes to inspire other businesses, particularly those in the construction, development, and real estate industries, to get involved in supporting affordable and supportive housing.
When asked what he would tell someone considering supporting CHN, Bob’s message was:
"A small gift can go a long way. Remember the why and the mission that gift is contributing to."
