A Partnership Built on Shared Purpose
The partnership between CHN and the YMCA began in 2022 with the opening of Touchstone Field Place. As the YMCA prepared to close its century-old Downtown housing location, the organizations worked together to help residents transition into supportive housing at Touchstone Field Place.
"Housing stability is a shared priority for CHN and the YMCA because we know a strong community starts with a strong foundation," said Tony Collins, President and CEO of the YMCA of Central Ohio. "Together, we combine that experience with CHN’s expertise in supportive housing to support the whole person and strengthen the entire community."
Today, YMCA staff provide individualized support to Touchstone Field Place residents, helping them access healthcare, food, benefits, and other essential resources while creating opportunities for connection through birthday celebrations, bingo, cookouts, and community activities.
"We listen, we show up and we create opportunities to meet the unique needs of our residents where they are," Tony shared. "Our goal is to make Touchstone Field Place feel like a vibrant community, not simply a place where people live."
Making a Difference in Residents' Lives
For Patrick Moore, who works with residents at Touchstone Field Place, the impact of stable housing and supportive services is visible every day.
Patrick shared that several residents were finally able to schedule major surgeries after moving into supportive housing because they had a stable home where they could recover. Others visited a dentist for the first time in decades or connected with a primary care physician after years without care.
Beyond healthcare, Patrick has witnessed residents building meaningful relationships with their neighbors, from sharing meals to caring for one another during difficult times.
When asked what the YMCA team provides for residents, Patrick summed it up: "Most simply, someone in their corner, advocating for their needs and who believes in them."
With the opening of Touchstone Field Place II and the addition of 44 residents, the partnership has continued to grow, creating new opportunities to connect residents with resources, supportive services, and one another.
Celebrating a Meaningful Partnership
CHN's Impact Award recognizes community partners whose dedication and collaboration help advance our mission and create lasting opportunities for the people we serve.
The YMCA of Central Ohio exemplifies that commitment through its compassionate approach to supportive services and its dedication to helping residents build stable, connected lives.
"This recognition reflects what strong partnerships can accomplish for our growing community," Tony shared. "We're proud to be part of that work, and very grateful for this honor."
To Tony Collins, Patrick Moore, and the entire YMCA of Central Ohio team, thank you for your dedication to CHN residents and your commitment to creating a community where everyone belongs.
We are proud to celebrate the YMCA of Central Ohio as our 2026 Service Partner of the Year and look forward to continuing this important work together.
